    Hi,

First of all, sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a clear answer after a search on this forum. So here is my question :

Did anyone try and install 8GB on a G51VX ? Mine is a G51VX-SZ028C, but on the sticker on the bottom it also says G51VX ID:1A.

Background : I need more memory to be able to make Full HD renders with 3DS Max, which throws out-of-memory errors with the 4GB I currently have (use of fastSSS materials -skin- is very memory consuming) when I try to render.
But on some specs, it is said that the G51VX only supports up to 4GB. On the other hand, on these forums it is said it's possible, so I wanted to know if it was, in fact, possible or not (I mean, if anyone did it), since it's a 300€ (minimum) buy.

Also, these renders take quite a long time with the stock T9600 (when they render at all), ~48Hrs can be average for a single picture (still due to the skin material) so I consider buying a Q9000.
I've read here that the Q9000 won't run any hotter than the T9600, is this true ?
Also, some people say it's best to keep the T9600 for gaming -wich I quite doubt since no game I play (mass effect 1&2, dragon age, oblivion, command & conquer series...) had problems on my old laptop with a T7500 (dual core 2.2 Ghz), so I guess even if they only use one or two cores performance will still be OK. Right ?

Thanks in advance to those who will take the time answering me,
    Regards,

So I guess, based on topic you linked, that I can't upgrade to a Q9000. Too bad.

As for the RAM, can anyone conform 8GB will work ?

I bought 8GB and it works with no problems (Corsair memory).

Can anyone confirm that with this motherboard revision, I cannot hope to add a quad core ? Thanks in advance.
