Hello everyone. After reading the optimization guide, I decided to do some overclocking on my laptop. CPU only since the GPU is dangerously hot already (thermal paste on its way)

I got it stable at 230FSB (2.3Ghz). Ran Orthos for 20 minutes with no glitches and temps reaching max 65/70C for the two cores.

Everything seems fine except...the speed doesn't stay at 2.3. I am monitoring CPU-Z and when Idle my speed drops to 1.8Ghz. The multiplier changed from 7.5 to 6.0. Is this normal?

Do you have your power plan set to high performance? If not, that is the most likely reason that it slows down when idle.

Run Orthos and CPU-Z at the same time. If your speed will be at max all the time ( when Orthos is running ) than there is nothing to worry about. If you want the CPU to be at max all the time, than go to Power Options, than Change plan settings, than Chaneg advanced power settings ( new window should open ), than choose Processor Power Management, Minimum processor state and change both On battery and Plugged in to 100%.
