when at night i feel sleepy i don't bother to shut down. i just close the lid straight which lid it to sleep mode. but next day when i come back from my job i find my laptop alright just for first few minutes. after that it starts behaving weird, like mozilla firefox is not responding, windows task manager is not opening. mouse courser is waiting sign. comes back to normal but again in waiting mode. and when i manage to restart, it goes up to the logging of screen and never shut down and eventually got BSOD. is there anyone can help me please. this is really annoying and time consuming. i really like sleep mode work properly.

do you have hibernate enabled? do you use hybrid sleep?
We can start from there to try and solve the problem. -
What is hibernate enabled and hybrid sleep? sorry for my ignorance but would be glad to learn.

open your power plan from control panel, are you using one of the ASUS power plans or a standard windows plan (balanced, power saver, or High performance)? Verify your lid close action also.
If you have any settings that will cause the computer to hibernate, Reset the : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/819-hibernate-enable-disable.html Follow option 1 - /Disable it , reboot and enable it.
~~~dstrakele makes a great point (shutdown is the quick fix) - I had a similar issue, could be bad ram also, eventually Tijo told me to make sure my SSD never went to sleep, this solved it for me. -
You can configure your lid in Power Options to shut down, rather than sleep, which would solve your problem immediately.
Alternatively, you can troubleshoot which application or driver is causing your system to lock up on resume from sleep or hibernate. Examine the Events in the Windows System and Application Event Logs to see if they can indicate the problem driver or application, or at least point you in a troubleshooting direction.
If this problem is a recent development, try using Windows System Restore to restore your system to an earlier time before the issue appeared.
No disrespect to you, @nealloy. It is one of the best ways to learn... -
i am using ASUS power4gear plan. and my lid close action both in plug in and battery is set to be sleep mode.
Another option is to change lid action to hibernate assuming you have it enabled. If you really want sleep to work please use this Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files.
(D/L is near the bottom of the page) and post the results as an attachment.
i have changed my lid close action to hybernation mode. now while watching movie last night, i have closed the lid along with mozilla with some tabs. now when resumed its giving me that problem and eventually restarted by pressing the power button.
I'm not surprised. To expect hibernation to succeed with streaming video in progress is unrealistic.
ASUS has also identified hibernation bugs with all NVIDIA driver versions more recent than 268.37. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...-doesnt-work-after-hibernate.html#post8391346 There are pitfalls to using sleep/hibernate technology.
