I've just purchased an Sandisk SDHC UHS-1 card but my G53 doesn't read it. My camera read&writes on it without problems but my notebooks internal reader doesn't recognize it :(
I've tried it on HP and SONY notebooks, same results. On the other hand, on a Lenovo T41, the card is recognized.
My internal card reader (Realtek) works just fine with other cards (both SDHC and SDXC).

Anyone with a fix for this problem?
    Thank you!

late edit: i managed to read this card using the same internal reader but from Ubuntu, not Windows. Weird, but at least I know it's a driver issue.

On my G53JW i made it read some of SDHC cards (class 6 and 10) with no problems. But they were Transcends. BTW, i surprised that you mentioned Realtek card reader is able to read/write XC cards? If true, great.

Bump, today i noticed that 8 GB MicroSD UHS-I (30MB/sec) card couldn't be recognized by Realtek PCIE Internal Card reader. Which driver still do you recommend?

I'm not sure about my exact model here what device manager says:
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&SUBSYS_10181043&REV_01

Haven't updated driver yet but i'm not sure driver update would solve this. I'll give a shot when i re-grab one of those cards. I'm shocked that still driver updates are being released for 10-year old SD Card technology!

Well if he had the same issue and says a specific driver fixes the issue it's always worth giving it a shot.

Thanks for the replies but Realtek really sucks. Here is the funny part: I tried the same UHS 8GB MicroSDHC card on a Toshiba laptop having 7 year-old built-in Texas Instruments Standard SD Host Controller, it worked like a charm WITHOUT HAVING TO UPDATE ANY DRIVER.

    Is Realtek kidding us???

Different devices can have driver issues with different pieces of hardware, usually newer hardware is more prone as it is more likely to use more advanced functions.

What's your current version of driver for the Realtek controller?

    Driver date: 26.7.2010
    Version: 6.1.7600.54

I haven't had "any" read/write problems with that driver including many SDHC cards prior to UHS cards. My 7 year-old Transcend USB reader and my friend's 7 year-old Toshiba notebook (Texas Instruments Reader) read UHS card just fine. I'm not sure that problem is limited to specific-brands.

You have 07/26/2010,6.1.7600.00054 which is outdated, try this one below and see if it resolves the issue.

I updated my G53JW's Realtek PCI Card Reader driver by installing the latest V6.3.370.71 here:
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads...=25&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Now it "sometimes" sees the UHS cards with no problem, sometimes it DOES NOT. EG: The card is Sandisk 8 GB MicroSDHC UHS-I card:

but i noticed, after installing new driver package, also HD Audio Driver's Control Panel "Icon" was updated. What the hell about it?

It shouldn't have updated the driver but icon is possible.
Did it affect your audio output?

When you say sometimes does it vary over time or by brand of card?
