I've got a question for those who have disassembled their g53's before, okay so here goes...

    are these screws here

the only screws i need to remove to remove this panel

and... are the screws underneath that panel the only ones i need to undo to detatch the monitor from it's hinge.

Thanks a bunch in advance :D

Those screws under the battery need removing they go through the base and into the panel you have circled in the second picture.

You also need to remove the screws either side of the battery compartment to be able to pop off the fan cover behind the screen.

When you remove the screws that are clamping down the monitor hinges be aware the cables are not long enough to remove the screen without a complete disassembly you can only rest the screen back but there wont be a lot of slack. If you intend to do work on the screen do it properly and disassemble.

I have only done the G73 fella and in that you could leave the RAM and Wireless card in but the Hard disk drives had to come out im afraid. Its best to do a complete job so that you can get right down to the barebone.

The screen will come off when you undo the 6 screws holding the bugger on so you will be fine doing any work to it, its just that as there is little slack from the wires that go through to the mobo it will literally come off the clamps and and you can lie it backwards. Most just disassemble so you can get to work properly without the possibility of damaging anything.

Here is a picture from my disassembly guide for ya.

dude, did your g73 have any double sided tape under the bezel, cause my g53 most certainly had some underneath, which caused me to apply a tad too much pressure when removing it and now, my bezel is slightly cracked (it's unsightly but it still holds).

How did you bezel crack by removing the sticky tape? All I had on the G73 was some thin yellow pieces of tape holding the wires in place nothing that would damage the monitor

Up a pic if you can. Does it mention it in the BTOTech vid?

it wasn't yellow tape (like the one found inside the notebook), like i said, it was something like double sided tape (white/transparent, can't really remember) holding the bezel to the back ; and no it wasn't mentioned in the BTOTech vid, and yeah i kinda guessed that there ain't no such tape on the G73

i watched this vid before doing any work on mine so i was like  when i felt and saw the double sided tape behind the bezel. I guess G53's and G73's are assembled differently
