    For some reason the power adapter will disconnect without being taken out of the laptop. If I jiggle it around it will go back on but then disconnect some time later. What can I do?

    Has to be either a loose connection in the power adaptor jack or the power socket in the laptop.

    Do you have any other laptops you could try the adaptor on to establish if the problem is the jack or the socket?

    What version of the G53 do you have because I think it was the SW that did have an issue with its jack and it is a good idea to purchase an adaptor like a Targus that comes with a 90o angle to prevent movement loosening the cable.

    It's a JW, I'll see if I have another laptop I could check it on. If it helps I tried wiggling the rod in the jack but it seemed solid which leads me to believe this is a problem with the adapter itself.

    Quite probably the adaptor especially if it is not a 90 degree jack it is a common problem.

    Does anyone know where I could get a G53 adapter? It kind of sucks that I have to buy a new one for a laptop that's less than a year old but I guess you have to pay to play.

    IF your laptop is still under warranty please contact ASUS support immediately.

    Please be careful with Adapters on Amazon, the majority of them are lower quality and can cause severe damage to your laptop.

    I suggest purchasing the original OEM Adapter direct from ASUS

    That liteon adapter is perfectly fine, however, you should get a new one if it's still under warranty so RMAing might not be a bad idea. also it might be the DC jack in the laptop that is going bad, not the adapter.

    ASUS Service for North America

    Note the following : f) There is damage from improper installation, improper connection, or use of parts and/or components not manufactured or sold by ASUS;

    While it would be near impossible for ASUS to verify that the end user is using non-ASUS approved products, the enduser is still voiding his/her warranty.

    I have had a number of users who have had their warranties voided because they called after purchasing non-ASUS adapters and admitting to that to ASUS.

    I feel this is one of those 'rather safe than sorry' moments

    I don't think there is a warranty on my laptop. There was some card I had to send in but I lost it when I moved.

    Call Asus, you have the standard (two years in US & Canada) Warranty regardless of whether you register or not.

    Well I have e-mailed Asus and received a reply nearly two weeks later stating that they want my entire unit shipped back so their 'engineers' can look at it. Where can I get a replacement adapter? It is absolutely out of the question to ship my entire unit anywhere.
