hey guys. i bought and installed 120gb ssd today. It was also my first time opening the machine and i had to open it again because i messed around with the ram. I installed the drive without the caddy but with the thick pieces of sponge in which the ssd was encased(should've taken pics). After installing windows I restarted to an error message saying cannot locate boot device and the ssd was not showing up in bios either. but when start it again shows up and runs windows smoothly.. im using AHCI for the SATA controller and im sure its not my improvised installation that's causing this because the machine is stationary and when it shows up windows runs fine.

Ensure you are running the newest firmware on the drive. Sometimes the don't come with the latest and greatest. Also check out OCZs support page they may have some tips.

On a side note: posts like these make me happy I bought my Samsung drive!

i do have the latest firmware and most forums says it a problem that ocz is avoiding. A forum on their support page says the ssd is more stable with ide enabled but if i switch i'll get a blue screen if i dont make some registry modifications. I'll live with it for now since its detected 80% of the time and once the os starts up there are no problems.

You can avoid this by making sure the SSD is installed on SATA 0. (you can use the BIOS "SATA Configuration" to check)

You can also try disabling Vt-d to free up a PCI-e lane for the SSD.
