I've had an Asus G53JW for a little over a year... this is the second time that the pin has broken. The last time Asus took 3 weeks to repair the laptop. Is there any way to work with them to expedite shipping?

I was on the phone with their 24 hour support folks for over an hour and a half until 2AM. I ended with an RMA number but they said that someone will "review" my case to see if I am worthy of them covering the cost of shipping. When I inquired further, the guy hung up on me.

I'm at my wits end with this company. It's a great laptop but has a fatal design flaw, and then has some of the most terrible support I've ever dealt with. Any ideas on how I can escalate the crappy customer service further? I don't know who to contact, apparently last night I was on the phone with the shift supervisor, but there was nobody else to escalate to.

Check out power connector pin broke on my G53jw - Page 14. In this case, @jt128 replaced his power connector pin with a more robust version. You could probably have a qualified local computer repair shop perform a similar fix if you choose not to DIY. Of course the cost will be out of your pocket, but you'll save shipping and have a quicker turnaround, as well as a true solution to this problem.

The problem with the ASUS repair is they just replace the whole motherboard with the same weak power connector pin that is the source of this problem.

If you still wish to pursue escalating your RMA, you could try PM'ing Mason@ASUS over at ASUS Republic of Gamers | The Choice of Champions – News, Guides, Overclocking, PC Gaming. He has proven very helpful to many with RMA problems. It's a shame that out of the whole ASUS organization, this ONE guy is the only one to go to... I bet he gets at least 100 PM's every day.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm pretty frustrated... I think my end game is to just replace the laptop with a Sager N9170 instead. Thus far head much better things about build quality and longevity, and I'll just sell this guy. I'll check with Mason for sure.
