I did a cursory search, but did not find anything.

My 2 month old G53JW just died. I was using it in one room, closed the lid, unplugged it and carried it into another. When I opened the lid and attempted to wake it out of hibernation, nothing. I plugged it back in and nothing. None of the indicator lights are lighting up on the unit, but the power supply light is still on, so the problem must be with the unit itself.

I am quite perplexed at this and frustrated. Is this common problem? Any pointers or advice on getting this working again?

Edit, I found a similar thread, but the other user's machine would at least get to the BIOS screen...I got nothing to work with here.

    Warranty?

You could also try taking out the battery and AC power cord, hold the power button for 30 secs. Then reconnect the battery and power cord and test.

I use it exclusively for work, so ending it off for the warranty would be the wort case scenario.

I tried holding the power button down for 30 seconds with only the cable connected but still nothing.

Yes I would try the old remove all power supplies battery AC and hold the power button to discharge the remaining charge in the laptop.

Wait..........now replace the battery and AC adaptor and try firing it up. Otherwise you can try resetting the CMOS battery but the above normally works.

Hibernation is pure evil and when you install windows the very first thing I do is switch off those stupid close the lid sleep and hibernation facilities.

    You can also try:

    1) Hit the reset button a few times in succession

    2) Try moving a magnet over to the lower right side of the trackpad. Sometimes the sensor will think the laptop is closed and won't start.
