    Hello,

I recently have been encountering display issues where the display will flicker on and off to the point where I have to nudge the laptop to get it to turn back on. I shot a video to clarify my problem.[ ]Asus g53jw display Issue.mp4 - YouTube I've also contacted asus on the matter and they recommended that I re install the operating system which I've done to not effect. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Try an external monitor, does the problem still happen.

Yes: your GPU is dying or you have a serious driver problem, you can rule out the driver problem by checking if the problem occurs in the bios.
NO: Either the LVDS cable or the LCD panel is the problem.

Thank you for the quick response. I went ahead and attempted your suggestions but now my laptop wont even boot. Here is video with the issue. Again Asus is insisting that I attempt to reinstall my operating system a second time.

Asus customer support consists of having a person tell you to reinstall your operating system, that is as far as their expertise is capable of providing.

As Tijo mentioned it does sound like a GPU on its way out or a loose cable which can be diagnosed did you get anything on the external?.

It does look like a loose cable to me as the flickering will be the connection. Are you within warranty or happy to go inside yourself?

This one happened on my Asus F3T back in 2009 after having it for almost 2 years where if you pressed the power on button, it lights up but nothing on the screen and u won't even hear anything on the system itself but the power light on and then it suddenly stopped working. What I did was to send it for RMA to Asus which took about 2-3 weeks until I got it back and what they did is replaced the mobo and everything is up and running again.
