Hello all. I kno there's a bunch of stuff in the sticky about coolers but there's been lots a new hardware and there really isn't much about the G53. So my question is which cooler fits the g53 the best with the best results. I've seen chasity's post about the U2 and now there's a U3, but i want one that fits and works well so i dont have to worry abt OC'ing

I'm looking at either the Zalman NC3000 or NZXT Cryo LX.

trust me, i have the g53jw and i bought a cooler for my laptop the COOLERMASTER U3 and i didnt help me at all in fact it was just annoying (in my opinion) what really helped me is repasting the cpu/gpu and running the fans at max speeds :) coolers are useless for such a laptops :)

anyways i just wanted to share my own experiance ...

You really won't have any problem regarding how cooler fits, most of them will fit on your G53. I am using U2 (for 15"-17") for my G73 and it works, temp decreased 5 - 7c. Aside from the 2 fans it elevates your laptop extra space for air on the bottom.

If you want high-end cooler you might try NZXT or SF-19.

    I can't say much on this, I don't own G53 so I can't tell (for TS).
-But cooler should help and not all G53 has the same problem.

I'm planning on getting an NZXT Cryo LX cuz it's got three 120mm fans whereas the zalman has only one 220mm fan. The more, the merrier I guess... :-D

Not really. The larger the fan, the more air it can move at a slower speed. Also, the slower the fan, the quieter. So 3x 120mm fans have to work harder to move what a single 220mm can, and can be noisier. Also, you want to know if the cooler has its own power, or does it run from the USB port.

Protip: If you want great ventilation, make sure the cooler has it's own power supply

Kung Lao.. If you game while the laptop is running on battery power, the battery pack becomes extremely hot. It happened to me once by mistake and the laptop shut down and wouldn't start for 5 mins. A cooler won't help in that case. But it should help in reducing your CPU and GPU temps a great deal depending on the cooler.

Chastity... So you're saying the Zalmann is a better option?

Don't put your laptop on your bed, it's like suffocating your laptop from air.
You can also use that T-23 Massive it gives a lot of air, but as chastity said if you really want to use a powerful cooler use the ones with separate power connector not just USB.

So between the Zalmann NC3000, NZXT Cryo LX and any others like the SF-19, Thermaltake 23, etc, which would be the best choice?

I'm actually skeptical about coolers. One issue with the Xbox 360 and it's coolers was that they would cause more problems than they would solve.

I'm torn between the Zalman NC3000U, CM SF-19 and the NZXT Cryo LX. Good thing I've got time till December to finalise my decision. Since I won't be able to return or RMA it cuz I'll e bringing it back to India, I don't want to go wrong with my choice...

Seems the majority is with the CM SF-19. I might get that in the end.
