    Hi all,

my keyboard backlight works when the laptop boots up, however, it turns off and remains off even in windows. i tried pressing the light control button at the top left corner but it only works for the power button and the 3 buttons on the top left. The keyboard remains non-illuminated. does any1 know how to rectify this?

I've had my G73JW since last Thursday and also found this problem of the keyboard backlight staying off after a quick backlight flash before windows booted. Pressing FN + F4 didn't do anything. I found uninstalling the ATK Package and installing the updated version from the Asus website seemed to sort out the problem at first.
But, after installing loads of windows updates and other Asus updates /drivers (from direct downlaod as ASUS live update doesn't seem to work), I found the backlight went off again. I did a repair of the ATK package and now the backlight works agains after pressing FN+F4. Incidently, the on screen visual now displays (the pretty graphic that shows amount of light as well as volume when volume keys pressed).
So try unistalling the ATK package from Control Panel - Programs - uninstall a program. Reboot. Then install the updated version of ATKPackage_WIN7_32_WIN7_64_z100007.zip

    Hope this works for you.

Hit the Lights control button (top-left) and cycle through the options until it says "All Lights On" , then use Fn+F4 to brighten the keys.
