    Hi there,
Today i connected my G53JW to our new Philips Led Hdtv using Hdmi cable. The Tv was recognized fine either by Nvidia Control Panel and by Windows as available sound device.

The problem is, as my G53JW has Realtek Hd Audio Manager i either can't mute or adjust Hdmi volume via Realtek audio panel or via hotkeys of keyboard. Only laptop speakers can be controlled under Realted HD Audio Manager or by FN Hotkeys. Interestingly, i can adjust/mute HDMI audio volume using Windows's built-in sound mixer and through taskbar's volume icon. Is that normal?

    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT: Changed the question.

When you connect the laptop to the TV with the HDMI cable, did you go into the Control Panel and choose the "Set as Default Device" option for the TV? I had to do that on my G53 when I had it, otherwise I would run into the same issue as you are describing.

Yes the volume will only apply the the current default audio device. You can change them all by going into the windows audio devices.

Yes, i did that manually, the Hdmi audio device (Philips HDTV) recognized just fine both in Sound applet of control panel and also in Nvidia Control Panel. Updating my statement, I can also control master volume and HDMI audio volume level using volume icon located in the system-tray. But can't control/adjust or mute using FN hotkeys of my Asus laptop's keyboard. Also, i'm not sure why Realted HD Audio Manager doesn't contain an output device for my Philips HDTV, only speakers, SPDIF digital audio (not HDMI), and Microphone input. Screenshot was added.

I know my friend, and i did that, as to volume control, yes i can control using Windows volume control, but i cannot via ATK (FN) hotkeys of my keyboard. It only affects built-in speakers. And Realtek HD Audio manager didn't show a device for my Philips HDTV unlike built-in Windows Sound Control Panel. I included both screenshots.

Very similar question was asked here:

It must be how the drivers are designed. Your best bet is to set the volume to max and use the TV remote to set the audio.
