    Hi all,
I had no much experience connecting my (and any) notebook via HDMI interface, here are a couple of quick questions on my mind before buying a LED TV:

1-Do i have to connect HDMI cable "before" booting notebook? Can i connect after Windows has started?

2-Do i need other special software (eg: Asus utility, i have no Asus utility installed for HDMI by default) to configure HDMI connection?

3-Can i use two screens simultaneously? I mean, will i be able to use notebooks own LCD screen and LED TV at the same time?

Thanks anybody who is caring to reply those!

You just plug the HDMI cable into your laptop when its running and switch to whichever HDMI input your cable has been put into on the TV. It should initially pick it up automatically otherwise go into screen resolution settings and select it by selecting 'Connect to External Output/Display'

You can have dual screens meaning your laptop screen will become screen 1 and the external screen as screen 2 or vice versa.

You can extend or duplicate the screens 1 image across 2 screens or you can just have just the external screen.

You can do this by going into Resolution settings. When it is wired up. and selecting which option you want as per:

This works for ATI 5870M I would assume Nvidia has something similiar someone should be able to confirm.

Yep, you can manage a dual monitor setup from either the NVIDIA Control Panel or from Windows. For NVIDIA it's "Right Click on the desktop -> NVIDIA Control Panel -> Set up multiple displays".

Looking at it now, it seems to be more robust than when I first looked at it several years ago. IIRC, you had to first enable the use of the second monitor in NVIDIA, but then you changed the orientation of the monitors in Windows. Now, it looks like everything can be done via NVIDIA.

I found out a strange thing about hdmi audio. Though i have no unknown device in device manager, when i look at Realtek HD Audio Manager software from system tray, i see NO HDMI AUDIO TAB which i used to see with older Realtek managers. Why is that? Is Nvidia handling the stuff? Where can i set hdmi audio from?

I only have speaker and digital output (digital output tab is not for hdmi AFAIK) tabs.

I mean that is missing unlike older HDMI-port-having computers:

    WHY?

Note: Computer is brand-new with default factory-image/settings and I also DO NOT HAVE NVIDIA HDMI AUDIO DEVICE IN SOUND PROPERTIES IN THE IMAGE ABOVE.

I DID. No avail. I wonder whether this applies to all brand-new Asus G53 series having Nvidia GPU? Why is that!? Notice that i have no connection with a HD TV because of still planning to buy it. That is concerning me a lot!

Oh.. Did you check to see if you have the HDMI audio driver from NVIDIA installed? it's part of the video driver pack.

    Chastitiy,
I'm really confused. Can you decide/verify HDMI Audio Driver installation instead of letting me decide? I see no HDMI Audio line in components tab in system information whereas all the Nvidia HDMI devices seem installed and working OK in device manager. Here is the screenshot:

    Thank you!

The NVIDIA HD Audio Device will not show up in the playback devices list until you plug it in for the first time. Then it will show up.

So i don't have any missing hdmi audio driver/component? Is it currently fine?

And yes, i haven't connected it to a HD TV, yet.

Until it connects to a HDMI device, it has no device name, ergo, it's not created.
