hey everyone this is my first thread on this site. Every-time i finish playing a game such as fallout or TW2; windows explorer starts to respond very slowly. For example when scrolling from the top item in the start list to the bottom one, it will no highlight the ones in between and simply highlight the last one after 2 or 3 seconds. The explorer will crash when trying to copy and paste or simply right clicking an item. I used ccleaner, defragged , checked for viruses and even installed new drivers suggested by chastity on the ROG forums. I have over 12 games installed and 80gb free on the primary drive. Again, this only happens after i exit a game.

Sounds to me the pagefile is getting overworked, and the system is lagging while trying to clean up. The default settings for the pagefile is mostly evil.
It'll resize, flush, and generally be annoying. Having a fixed size alleviates a lot of sluggishness.
Bring up the Advanced System Settings, and hit the Advanced tab. Hit the settings button for Performance, and hit Advanced tab again.
You should have a section for Virtual Memory. I prefer to have 2048 for min/max size, and move it to a non-System partition on the 2nd HDD. -
sorry i meant to say primary partition. i only have a 750gb drive
-
it didn't fix it.. explorer is still sluggish after gaming

try a registry cleaner and defrag your HDD.

Run hwinfo32 to see if all of your ram is being recognized.
Do you notice any errors in event viewer?
When it crashes does it blue screen, if so DL Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files. Scroll down to "Download BlueScreenView (in Zip file) "
and attach the results to your intial post.
What anti virus do you have installed?

Also have you run any tests on the hard drive such as chkdsk? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
You can also try to run a scan with malwarebytes. Is possible that something like an ocx or active-x component has been installed by third party apps that crawls the system.
Before attempting to a full format try to scan the system with it.
Also if it happens after gaming only I hope it's not your CPU that sticks to the lowest speed multiplier, hence throttling.
Try to keep ThrottleStop opened and see how it goes.
System crawling can be an Hdd issue as well but if you can game fine and loading windows/games doesn't shows problems I doubt it's it. -
Thanks for all the help guys. Back from work and ima bout to try all your suggestions
@psyco.wiz the ccleaner registry tool should work just fine right
@JOSEA: NO blue screen and only explorer crashes.Once you end the process it will restart and likely crash again if you try to copy or right click something. Also i have clean installed about 5 times since i got this machine once because of this same problem(exlporer issues but no lag). I was hoping I wouldn't have to clean install until i start school so i can install my programming software and just 1 or 2 games
@Kingpinzero: Sry i dont have throttlestop could u give me some more info on its functions.. Also damnnnn.. very impressive 3dmark06 score i tried improving my performance using afterburner (not sure if i did it right), didn't use increments just clocks that seemed safe enough.. Maybe u could give me a few pointers or direct me to the guide you used..
Thanks again everyone
