Could anyone confirm for me if this model has all 4 dimms? In the specs on newegg it says it supports up to 16gb of memory and it comes with 4gb installed, so i'm hoping it's just one 4gb stick. I want to be able to add another 4gb stick in the easy-to-reach slot under the keyboard. I would be sad if it only had 2 dimms and they were both used up by 2gb sticks.

Hoping someone in the know will see this

more likely 2x2GB. If it supports 16GB, then it has 4 slots, unless they suddenly got 8GB memory units

Thanks Chastity
. I have been away from the computer world for a few years, and I just assumed that they had come out with 8gb by now

I hope it does have 4 slots just ordered one, can't wait since its going to be my first gaming notebook.

i confirm 2x2gb with a total of 4 slots
-
So i recieved my g53 and i bought 2x4gb ram but cant find the 4th slot any help will be appreciated

Download the pdf manual and check it as it shows the exact placement of dimm slots
1st slot is "hidden" and hard to reach. 2nd and 3rd (one ontop the other) are on the underside near the hdd slots and 4th is under the keyboard covered by a protective black film -

Hi, does anybody know if the G53JW-XN1 model come with the Backpack and the Razer mouse or this is only on the A1 model?
-
No backpack no mouse

A couple questions for anyone that has one of these... How is the screen? and has anyone experienced dropped keys while typing like the g73 series does? Also, can it go up to 16gb of ram?
-
It can go up to 16gb but the hidden slot is occupied by a 2gb stick, so the max i can go is 14gb since i cant find the hidden slot. As for the drop keys i do not understand that problem.
-
About the dropped keys... on the g73jh/jh and the new sandybridge i played with some units drop keys while typing. Essentially about 10 chars out of very 100 or so will not register that you typed them. There are whole threads about it, and its very noticable. Essentially the trackpad driver is screwing with the keyboard response. Many people just turn off the track pad in bios to solve it. I havent heard anything about g53 models having this problem and I havent found one in person to play with so was just curious if anyone had any info one way or the other on typing on the g53 series notebooks.
Thanks -
As for the keyboard I didn't have a problem. -
The fourth slot (Slot1) is hidden under the sheet metal under the keyboard in front of the one under the black tape. You can change it as I did to put in 4X4GB SODIMMs but beware you might void your warranty if you do. It doens't specifically say it, but you will be removing some tamper tape to get to it.
If you have gotten to the point where you have taken off the bottom cover where the HD is there are about 11 more screws you have to remove to get to the hidden slot. Some of them are visible when you remove the keyboard. Others are hidden. You have to flip it over and remove the screw and take out the DVD drive to get to some. You have to take out the Hard drive to get to others. Keep careful track of the screws because they are tiny and there are three different sizes. Once you have the remaining screws out, you will be able to lift the second layer up enough to pop out the 2G SODIMM and insert a 4G one. Only lift it up as far as you need to to get to the slot and be gentle. There are a bunch of wires and thin ribbons you really don't want to have to fumble to reconnect if you accidentally pull them out. Oh! in case it needs mentioning make sure you have removed all power sources (AC and Battery) before you begin.
G53JW-XN1, how many memory slots?
