    Hi Everyone,

I am a proud new owner of a G53JW, and am so far loving it!

It is my first "gaming" laptop, and have poured through the 300+ pages on the internet regarding its performance, issues, and of course amazing cooling system.

Now my question is, did I make a mistake? Yes the computer industry is a waiting game, but it seems Sandy Bridge is closer to this Asus form factor than ever before. (G73sw's are now at Best Buy...)

Should I return it, as I have a full refund policy for the next 5 days, or just let it be? I paid roughly $1300 taxes and shipping inclusive. Speculation puts the G53sw-xr1 at about $1299.00

I have put it through some benchmarks, and it seems in line with everyone's on this board

    3dmark vantage = P8650
    3dmark 06=12688
    passmark= 1305.6

    Many Thanks!

If you don't mind the wait of another month or two, definitely return it and wait for the SW. Personally, I only got my G73JH-A1 cause it was a door crasher for $999 dollars. (lol @ black friday)

Wait, original HDD bays or caddies.... Anyways, why do you people need that much space constantly on a laptop? I say just dump the not frequently used stuff on a external HDD. You can't possibly be using all that 2TB of data constantly.

I guess the TB's of space is justified for desktop replacements?

I've always been a fan of just dumping to an external.

That's a smoking black friday deal you had there...the refurbs are hitting that price point only now.

Return it if you can still get a full refund. Sandybridge provides better battery life almost doubled between 3-4 hours and the 2nd gen core i7 2630qm 2ghz base cpu is way faster than the 1st gen core i7 940xm stock for stock.

    It was already debated.
An i7 2630qm will improve the gaming experience only marginally.
G73JW vs G73SW benchmarks proves that well. The limiting factor is the gtx460m here.

edit: you will still benefit the increased battery life tho, if you value that...
edit2: as you can see, i have the i5 version... and my 3DMark Vantage P_score is what? 90 points lower?

It only comes to if you wanna wait a bit more or not.

    Thanks guys,

Just suffering from buyer's remorse, though it is not really remorse since the laptop's performance is definitely there.

    Cheers
