    Hey there,

After discovering G73 was simply too big and heavy for most airline hand baggage I have had to downscale my dreams! So I'm looking at the G53SW 3D...nice little(ish) machine.

I did loads of research on G73 and am now stumped and really i needed to purchase by the end of next week. There seems to be a couple very similar G53 options available and I'm not sure which is what, or not = G53SW-IX089V vs G53SW-IX097Z...

I'm after the 120Hz 3D version, but which one is it?
    Are they all only 1366x768?
Any other advice on the G53SW?

Also, if anyone knows anywhere in the UK we can get 'custom' G53's(as in upgraded CPU/ HD's / etc), would be great to hear!

Thanks for any help you can offer :)

Look for the glasses as the 3D version comes packed with the 3D glasses. 3D ready might be deceiving since all GTX 460m support 3D on an external 3D monitor/tv with hdmi 1.4.

Saying that, G53SW-IX097Z is 3D - it features the 3D glasses and it has a 3D 1366x768 screen.
Not sure about IX089V, but i dont think so.

Regarding the 1366x768 resolution it is normal.
IIRC i read somewhere that only G73 comes with 1080p 3D screen.

It's actually better to get it shipped from USA, it's much cheaper including the shipping fee + tax. I bought my G73JW-A1 from BTOtech for 1799 dollars when it just came out, which is like 1100 GBP, shipping fee + tax only add an extra 300 GBP, which makes 1400GBP, at that time it was around 1800GBP at standard spec if you buy it in the UK.

As far as I know, there's another version of G53SW that comes with naked eye 3D, maybe isn't out yet. Here's a quick look:

Yes, the 1366x768 versions are 3D.

Yes, but if you check that link it cleary says that 3D comes only in 1366x768:
    Display 15.6" 16:9 HD (1366x768)/ HD 3D (1366x768 120Hz)/Full HD (1920x1080) LED Backlight

at least if you are going to play non 3d games too, you will get great FPS with such lower NATIVE resolution :3

(the 3d experience itself is smoother than at FHD resolution)
