Hi all!
I'm from Australia so unfortunately our electronics are way more expensive than in the US, where most of you seem to live!
I am currently looking at these two laptops after my tax return money comes in. I'm not sure if our versions of the G53SW and G73SW are different from yours (since it seems you have versions from different shops)
Both around $1999 currently (which is a bargain compared to the regular retail price of $2499 for G53SW and $2799 for the G73SW).
These are the specs :
G53SW SZ143V
i7-2630QM 2.9G
15.6" LED FHD,
1TB SSH (I'm guessing hybrid SSH)
8G RAM
BLURAY,
GTX460M/1.5G,
11N+BT, 2MP webcam
G73SW TZ192V
Intel Core i7-2630QM 2GHz (turbo to 2.9)
17.3" LED FHD
1.5TB HDD,
8GB RAM,
BLURAY RW,
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M, with 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM,
11N+BT, 2.0MP WEBCAM
So basically these isn't much difference apart from screen size, that the G73SW doesn't have hybrid SSH and that it isn't overclocked out of the box.
I have been looking at reviews online and it seems the G73SW has had issues with the keyboard (because of the trackpad) missing keystrokes that can be fixed by turning off the trackpad in BIOS, whilst both have problems with CPU throttling.
Are there any other problems that I should know about?
I was keen to get the G73SW if it was the same price, but the keyboard problem is a real turn off. Has that been patched?
Otherwise I will go with the more "stable" G53SW.
Your help would be much appreciated!
Cheers from down under.

Just for the simple fact that the G73 models have a much better lcd panel than the G53's I would get the G73.

So I don't need to worry about the keyboard?

The keyboard is a non-issue especially with ATK 1.0.0008

I can 2nd that, my keyboard is fine after the bios updates / ATK updates.
