    Hi,

I'm planning on purchasing a lcd panel to replace my current permanently damaged by water.
So before i go buy anything, just want to double check that i am looking at compatible screens.

    When choosing the screen:
-40 pin connector on bottom left.
    -15.6" wuxga 16:9

So something like this would be good? A matte screen would be preferred as the original screen has horrible glare and viewing angles. I live in nz so shipping costs is also something to consider.

    Many thanks.

I'd like to bump this thread as I'm in the market for a g53SW screen replacement as well.

One of my friends dropped my laptop and now there's a small area of green lines.

Does this look like the correct screen?

Also, if anyone can recommend a good, cheaper 1080 screen please let me know.

    Or what about this one?

The one you posted will be a generic panel replacement, it will be any number of brands and be the cheapest they can get hold of. Decent panels can be hard to find as 1366x768 panels are made to be as cheap as possible.

It's best to pull the screen part and take the part number off the screen. That way you get the exact same quality as before. With compatible screens sometimes the brightness buttons can get reversed (though only ran into this problem with ccfl backlit screens). But like i said it's best to take it apart and get the exact same screen that it came with.

Oh, thats a good idea. Plus it will get me familiar with the process of reassembly.

    Thanks for the response.

Looks like it's an AU Optronics B156HW01, I should also add that you should choose a matte finish rather than a glossy one due to glare.

That depends on your intended use, glossy can be great for indoor use (not facing a sun facing window).

If your motherboard ever shipped in a model with a 1080p display you could try salvaging a cable somewhere and upgrading the type.

Yeah that was my first problem. Nobody seemed to sell a 1080p screen. I didn't know that the g53 came in anything less than 1080.

I'll plan on getting a matte though. I had never had a finish like this and it's really grown on me.

Just be aware that's a not the AUO V7 panel but just a general LG model instead so wont be one of the high gamut screens.

    It should work however.

Oh ok. I'm not looking for any sort of upgrade, just trying to get as close to stock as possible. All of versions are around the same price, is there a better choice?

V4 and V7 are the high gamut panels, however listing must say they are the exact model you are getting otherwise they will be something else as they are the most sort after models, other listings will be offering "compatible alternatives" which is a lottery.

It's not that hard, i do it everyday. Just use a guitar pick to separate the screen bezel from the back and make sure there's no screws holding it on. The worst laptop screen replacement i did was a hp beats edition dv6 which has this fake sticker that looks like a speaker grill that hides 2 screws. I swear i almost ripped my hair out struggling to remove the bezel. It also routes the wifi wires under the fan assembly so you have to remove the motherboard completely, then remove the subwoofer to remove the screen. What a joke of a design that was.

All in all asus computers aren't that hard to disassemble. Just don't use a lot of force and you'll be ok.

Haha that sounds pretty terrible! It took me prob 40 minutes because I was so paranoid.

My biggest hangup was the screws that go directly into the left and right sides of the panel. The holes in the panel just would not line up with the metal brackets.

I always partially do those screws before tightening them fully, they can be tricky to align.

Golden rule of notebooks is to not force things, if you are about to, take a step back and check you have not missed something.

AUO V7 is a good choice, and very good price I think, it seems like a 90% NTSC panel.

V7 is the same 95% as the V4, exact same panel but without the anti glare coating.

Wow, my thread is revived and someone has done the replacement already - -, i was wondering if this would be compatible:

    15 6" Samsung LTN156HT01 1920 x 1080 Screen FHD Wled LED LCD Matt Y | eBay

I really can't stand the stock glossy screen which gave so much glare and has extremely bad viewing angles :/.

So long as it's a standard fitting yeah, but there are loads of options you can be sure about out there and the V4 version is non glossy and offers the excellent performance.
