I've had my g53sw for about a month now and so far, I've been very pleased with it. There are a couple of questions I would like to ask though. First off, does the lid flex if you push down on it? Mine seems to have a bit of flex if I push down when its closed.

Secondly, I think I have a couple of stuck/dead pixels, but on not sure which. It looks like a speck of dust on the screen but its only visible if I look at the screen straight on if I look from an angle it disappears. I can't see it from an inch away and its only visible from about a foot away. Is this a stuck or a dead pixel?

    Thanks!

try to plug it on an external monitor if that pixel still stucks then it got something to do with your GPU, otherwise yes theres a problem with your screen and you may or may not need to RMA it depend on how annoying it is

WHY ARE YOU PUSHING DOWN ON THE LID? That's how you break the LCD. The LCD is fragile. And yes you can also F* up the pixels when you push and bend the LCD. And the cover is PLASTIC, it's not titanium. Find a flat piece of plastic about 12 inches across and 2mm thick that doesn't bend when you push down on it... Then use your common sense and answer your own question.

    ASUS G53SW-A1 Review

    Build and Design

The lid is attached the chassis via one large hinge. It is possible to open the lid with one hand. The lid flexes rather easily; additionally, the hinge could be a bit more supportive since the display can move around a bit. I also wish the display tilted back further. Fit and finish is good; there are no rough or unfinished edges. The overall build quality is above average; the lid could be sturdier, but otherwise there are no concerns.

FWIW, my hinge is very supportive and the display is very stable and does not move around at all.

I don't think I can RMA it since there's just the one messed up pixel. Its alright though, its near the edge of the screen and I don't notice it while gaming.

I was cleaning the lid since it got a bit messy. My Toshiba satellite and Lenovo thinkpad don't flex by the way (or at least, no where near as easily). I suppose the reason is that its not completely flat and is slightly domed at the middle (if that makes sense).

My display is also quite stable. I was just alarmed at how easily the lid flexed.
