    Greetings everybody,

I bought a "For Parts" G53SW-XT1 that was only supposed to have a bad DC jack. Long story short, dude shipped the laptop unsecured in the biggest box he could find...no padding, wrapping or packing peanuts. After battling with broken standoffs and damaged hinge covers and other parts, I managed to repair the jack. I can now power on a charge the laptop, but I have a very serious issue:

I have to put pressure on screw number 3 in order to see video consistently. Otherwise, I only see a white screen that won't go away unless I flex the chassis to put pressure in that one specific area (right where the right side fan connection goes). Pictures are attached for reference.

    Thanks for looking!

Sounds like something isn't grounding correctly and when your twisting/pressuring a proper ground is being made. I would double check the screws securing motherboard, make sure they are all there. There are many holes not all of them use a screw, look for a triangle figure next to the holes that should have a screw. If you are missing some let me know how many, and PM me your address. I have a computer repair shop, which means I have a ton of extra screws from dead laptops. I can throw some in a envelope with a stamp and mail them to you.

I had to do the fixmykb on my G73SW and got an error, but it did work. Have you made sure to install the latest ATK drivers for you laptop? And of course do you know if the keyboard lights are physically working? I used a 3.5v power source to test my keyboard lights while it was un-installed from my laptop. If you are indeed having grounding issues, that may also be affecting the keyboard lights.

I'm on my 3rd G73 in the last couple months, I've been refurbishing and reselling them, so I can feel your frustrations trying to get every up and running.
