Hey everyone! Getting my G53SW tomorrow, and I was wondering, what are some safe overclocking programs? I've heard of MSI Afterburner, but i dont know anything about it. Also, what are the highest clock speeds i can go to without risking overheating? I want to push the card, but I DO NOT want to get close to overheating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

    Hi,

I bought the G53SW-A1 as well. I recommend NvidiaInspector over MSI Afterburner but that is my personal opinion. I seem to have a ceiling of 800 (core)/1550 (Memory)/1600 (Shader, which is 2*core)but your specific results will vary (some can get 820-830 on the core, but 1600 or so seems the max for the memory).

Temps run a few degrees hotter. Without the oc, max GPU temp is 80 C, while at the oc above, the temp reaches 84-85. I believe anything under 90 is acceptable.

Try starting at 750/1400 and go up in small increments to find something stable and run 3dmark 11 tests until it either crashes or you notice artifacts.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention, you'll DEFINITELY want to do a clean install of windows 7. Look on the forums here for a good guide. It gets rid of all the gunk software and will save you time in end because you won't have to worry about conflicts with software/drivers etc.

Also, download the program ThrottleStop. G53's seems to have an issue with CPU throttling down to lower speeds (I've never noticed it, but it seems to exist and the program acts as a good temperature monitor anyway).

    Thanks for the info!

I'll definitely look into the clean install, I've seen other people discuss this.
