    Hi everybody,

After a month looking for a good and cheap gaming notebook I decided to buy the G53SW-XN1 from new egg.
But it has ongly 6gb ram, so my questions before buy it, are:
    - Is it difficult to upgrade with other 4gb and a SSD?
    - Does it invalid the warranty?
    - I live in Costa Rica and i think there isnt any Asus support here, so i suppose that if i need to repair the nootebook i have to send it to US, right?
(Sorry if u guys already talk about this, i made a serach but i didnt find)

the ram upgrade can be kinda frustrating, the SSD is alot more simple.

    1. If you're confident enough to open up your laptop, you can do the ram and HDD upgrade yourself with the help of disassembly videos. I wish it was as easy as in a Toshiba where the ram and HDD slots are accessible just by removing two separate panels at the bottom (I think that's how it is in the G53SW though. I have the older G53jw).
    2. Ram and HDD upgrade doesn't void the warranty.
    3. Yes. You'll have to send it to America since you don't have a service centre there.

What memory should i buy? what the difference between PC3 10600, 10660, 10666?
Is this one good for the g53sw? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231342
I was thinking that i could change the 2x2gb easy to reach with a 2x4gb.... i will have the same 10gb without getting crazy...

PC3 10600 is 1333MHz ram. I don't think the other numbers you mentioned exist. Both rams you mentioned will work. I don't have experience with them though. People use gskill desktop rams often cuz they are supposedly good. But again. No experience. Someone with more experience will come along. :)

You are welcome. :) What games are you planning to play on your ROG? What else will you be using it for, other than gaming, which'll require more RAM?

For that, I'm guessing 6gb ram should be more than enough? I'm saying so cuz my sister is an architecture student and she uses Revit too on my Toshiba A500 with 4gb ram and she has never complained. Or you could buy 2gb ram and up the total ram to 8gb which should be more than enough? Just my two cents though. :)

if you just add 4GB more there should be an empty socket just under the keyboard, mine has one

flyingfalcon you may be right, i will first try it to render with the 6gb then i will decide if is the case to upgrade it ;)
I was thinking about more ram because mine Qosmio with 4gb (at 1066mhz) when i'm rendering it reach 90% usage...

dragon, is the socket under the kayboard easy to reach?

You get 1066 speeds, or you get a hung PC.

The ram will run at 1066MHz (the lower clock). And Yes. The slot under the keyboard is easy to reach. All you have to do is remove the keyboard and the 4th slot is covered by a small black thin plastic sheet.

The issues about the g53 make me afraid!!

Does someone know if the g73 have the same problems or not?
