    Hello

    I was just wondering if I can get some input from any G53SX-XN1 owners, whether the screen comes in matte or glossy. Glossy screens on a laptop drive me crazy, since it kills the immersion when you're playing a dark game and all you can see is your reflection.

    On XoticPC it looks like the G53SX-XR1 comes with a matte screen as default, I'd just like to check on this particular model before I commit to it

    I'm pretty new to these kind of screens but I think it has a matte. That is, if matte is less glare and not completely gone lol. Sorry if I couldn't help I'm not really sure how to tell.

    If you can see your reflection in the screen when the computer is off, it's a glossy. If you can't, it's a matte.

    Ach, oh well, at least the G53SX-XR1 comes with a matte at only $49 more

    By the way, does anyone know the difference between the XR1 and XN1 models? I can't see anything significant anywhere

    I enjoy glossy. Not ideal during daylight when the sun breaks through the window creating an ungodly amount of glare, but when away from sunlight I see colours POP and much more vibrant than the matte.

    Matte = Functional

    Glossy = Colourful

    *just my opinion

    I agree with Rampage. As far as the glare goes, I only really notice it when I'm near a window during the day. As of right now,12:49am, there is no sunlight i.e no glare and the colors are great but compared to today at around 2:00pm with some sun coming through the window there was some noticeable glare, nothing too bad though.
