Hey I'm consider buying a g53jw this weekend but I really wanna run XP 64 on it, has anyone got it to work?

Also can someone recommend a good SSD harddive for it? I'm thinking around 80-100gb.

Yeah. I can't see a single benefit for xp 64bit. Especially since the driver support in x64 is so ... thin. buggy. non-existant.

I can understand (but not support) xp x86, *but* those applications are so specialized ... and I still think virtualization is the better option in those specialized cases.

So yeah, it'll probably install. Turn off AHCI first ... and see if you can even *find* the appropriate drivers.

Why XP, why? Windows 7 is so more advanced... XP is obsolete by now. In addition to this, SSD combined with XP is not the best idea imo. The OS is not optimized for SSDs at all.

+1 For either VirtualBox or VMware Player. I went with VMware Player because 1) I might eventually upgrade to VMware Workstation and I'd like to make sure my VMs will work if I do and 2) I want to familiarize myself as much as I can with VMware products for work.
