I saw from the varies pics online that the back of the laptop acts like a stop for the screen. This should not be a problem on regular use but for those of us that put our laptop on a stand like this: Stands . Will the screen open far enough back?

I know that the G53 is not quite shipping yet but it seems that the G73 have the same setup. Can anyone with a G73 chime in.

Possibly not. The screen does stop shortly after 90 Degrees on my G73 so a stand like that would have it pointing at your face or a few degrees above. Why not just use it without a stand?

It's the hinges that stop the screen not the back:

A stand raise the screen to eye level and a detached keyboard and mouse give a lot more freedom on screen placement. A combination that makes it a lot easier on the neck on us older folks :p

Thanks for the info but that does not answer my question if the screen will open wide enough to use it on a stand as shown and have the screen perpendicular to the desk.

True makes sense.. I can see this vertical stand helping to mainly save room on the desk, a horizontal stand (heck a couple good thick books to test) would get it up to eye level. :D
