(Pardon the 'noob question. Still trying to get up to speed on the new tech.)
So, with my new G53SX (non 3D screen), I can get a pair of the nVidia 3D glasses like the ones below and be able to play games (i.e., BF3) in 3D?

Is it that easy?

Those will only work with a 120hz screen. Since the G53SX computer you have only goes up to 60hz it wont work.
They are made to make a non 3D screen which is 120hz play certain games in 3D with the software included.
It would be pretty awesome if they could make any monitor 3D but sadly they can't -
I knew it sounded too simple...
I was thinking the 3D screen available on some models would allow 3D w/o the glasses, and when I saw these, I thought that's what I would need to do 3D on my 'standard' screen, but I guess not.
So, what exactly are all the "3D TVPlay" stickers for on my laptop? From the Asus website - " Bundled with the G53SX is 3DTV Play from NVIDIA, which projects the high definition graphics of this notebook onto any compatible 3DTV via HDMI 1.4." So, am I to understand that if I have an external monitor / TV that has the appropriated HDMI 1.4 port, I could use that to get 3D video? I'm assuming I would still need the glasses? -

You're exactly right. Your computer will output via HDMI to an external 3D ready TV/Monitor. You will then use the glasses you would normally use on that TV/Monitor to view in 3D
