Looking into buying a laptop as a replacement for my 4 year old Alienware desktop. When considering the G55 the 660M in particular worries me. How does the G55 handle higher end games such as Witcher 2?

Buying an Asus is preferable in some ways to me because I work in at a reseller that stocks them and therefore can get good prices on their notebooks. Does Asus offer more powerful GPU's in any of their laptops that I am not aware of?

    Let me know!

Witcher 2 - High-Ultra settings 1080p without Ubersampling. Dont expect amazing FPS.

Even my 6990M struggles to max it out completely with the texture packs it is a bonkers game.

Amazing FPS being? Notebookcheck.com shows 26fps on "High" for the 660M. I would consider 30-35 playable. How much does the CPU architechture and RAM speeds factor into FPS for a game like this. Are Noteobokcheck's 660M benchmarks accurate to the G55VW?

Just giving you an idea, you judge if the notebookcheck results are accurate.

    GTX 675M at 18% OC (732/1675) + i7-3610QM runs at a range of 34-50FPS, with this setting:

As said you cannot expect amazing FPS you can get away with 20-30fps with this game and most have to because it is so intensive. High end mobile cards struggle with it so a mid range card you will need to limit your settings only the 7970M can max it out comfortably but still forget ubersampling on a single card.

Sounds like a laptop with the 7970M is the way to go. I suppose Sager is the recommended brand for something like that.

Sager/Clevo is probably one of the cheapest out there that has the selection of a HD 7970M or a GTX 680M. Their laptops are fine built too.
