I bought the Asus G60JX two weeks ago with the problem in which it froze whenever trying to run Steam or any gaming application. I returned it two days later thinking that it was a hardware problem. The Geek Squad was of course no help so they settled with exchanging it after 20 minutes of explaining the problem. Anyway, I got the 2nd ASUS G60JX and had the same problem. I had read about problems with audio devices conflicting with applications so I decided to first disable Realtek HD audio device. Then I ran Steam and Battlefield 2 flawlessly but without sound. Figured if I deleted the Realtek HD audio manager that I would be able to run the default Microsoft Audio Manager and after deleting it I have not had any problems with any application.

SOLUTION: Delete Realtek HD Audio Manager in your control panel programs. After deleting you will be prompted with a restart option, click restart now. This will complete the deletion process as well as automatically activate the default Microsoft Audio Manager.

I know this will help you guys out, this is NOT a HARDWARE PROBLEM.

    Good luck gamers!

Are you sure the problem isn't the software creative Sound Blaster? Unistalling the Realtek HD audio manager UNINSTALLS the driver. You could have solved the problem by just disabling Sound Blaster enhancements or installing the software Sound Blaster by Creative.

This problem has been discussed many times on this forum.

Same story here. On my 2nd G60 and have tried everything to get this thing to stop freezing. I don't know how you guys are playing these high end games without issues when I can't even play facebook games without locking up. Even youtube videos freeze. Funny thing is everything runs fine in small sceen but in full screen, no luck. Tried removing Creative, updating nvidia driver, updating bios, you name it nothing works.
