Hi guys, So I've got a G60VX-2CJX, I've had it since.. 2010? I bought it from america. Now i wanted some opinions on it, Like what you think of the current specifications that it has and if there's anymore i can do to it.
Right now it has:
NVMB1200-A01 Motherboard (This does not seem to like Quad core, i tried with a Q9000 and it would not boot into windows)
Intel Core 2 Duo P8800
4GB of hynix ram. (May get 8 at some point)
1GB GTX 260M (I know this cannot be upgraded)
250GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD + 320GB Seagate HD.
Protech? Prolima? 3 paste. I think it's that high performance compound stuff.
Basically, I' don't use it for high performance gaming and its mostly used for light gaming, Final Fantasy 14, command conquer and CoH/CoH2 (It runs pretty well)
It also stays very cool about 25 - 40C for the CPU and 50 - 60C for the GPU. I found a program that can control the fan through software (took ages) Although it doesn't have the G60 as an option it works the same. So my GPU stays cool and runs well. Since I've had THREE cards die in the stupid thing from overheating.
I was curious if it's worth putting 8gb inside the machine, because i know it suffers a little from high memory usage when running a few things.
DO you guys know if there is anything else i can do to it in general? I don't have the money for a new laptop, all i can do is save money over time for upgrades. I don't need the latest power and stuff to play my games.
Much appreciated for all input.

Not really, you have taken it as far as it can go, the ram is the only thing and that's if you find yourself needing more.

When I replaced my p8700 with a e8435 in my g51vx I definitely noticed an improvement in the frame rates. But it wasn't extreme or anything. And at this point it's probably about 30 bucks. Aldo the Temps weren't that much higher despite the higher tdp

Well the jump is a bit smaller for the P8800.

Honestly I got rid of my old G60 when I was in the same position as you. I really wish I hadnt because it would have been a nice lappy for friends when they want to visit and game. Great for the legacy titles but not much else at this point because like you pointed out you really cant upgrade it much past what you already have it at.

My friend and I play dead space 3 together, he uses my g51vx and i use my newer msi, he says it runs well enough

For a friend's house to have a quick game is a little different to your main machine and everyone's taste is different when it comes to visuals and performance.
G60VX Usage Opinions needed!
