For some reason my G60Vx-RBB05 won't show POST or allow me to get into the BIOS while it's starting up. Also, I am forced to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get it to actually boot Windows. If I don't it just gets stuck. Once I'm in Windows everything works. No random shutdowns. All 4GB of RAM show up. The CPU is read correctly and so is the GPU. Is there a reason why it wouldn't show POST or allow me to get into the BIOS? I figured if the RAM was bad I'd see errors or have issues while in Windows, but that is not the case. I can play games and do everything as normal, only that booting/reboot requires manual intervention and I don't see anything on the screen until Windows boots.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

I haven't. I guess I could try. I didn't see a CMOS battery anywhere last time I pulled the bottom plate off. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks Meaker

It can certainly help with this sort of funny issue, otherwise reflashing the latest bios could also help.

Run memtest86+ though a few passes. Just because you don't see errors in windows doesn't mean that your RAM is ok.

Thanks ALLurGroceries, I'll definitely try that and let you know. For some reason with the HDD inserted, it won't boot, but if I remove the HDD, the "No boot media" prompt will display and I then I am forced to insert the HDD while the laptop is on to get it to boot.

That sounds like an electrical problem with the drive/slot, it wont boot without the HDD because it has no OS to boot.

Yeah, it could be an electrical problem because when the HDD is inserted and I turn off the laptop completely, when I turn it back on it will only show a blank/black screen, nothing is shown on the screen but my Num/Caps Lock icons will light up if I hit them. It's really strange. But like I said above, somehow the laptop will somehow show the "No boot media inserted" when the HDD is not inserted and then I am able to insert the HDD and it'll boot. The whole thing just doesn't make any sense other than it being an electrical issue with drive/slot like you said.

Possibly something funny with hotplug settings or the firmware on the bdd itself.
