G60jx repaste, Super easy, the hardest part was to clean the old (crap) super hard thermal paste off of both cpu/gpu and heatsinks.

    disassembly super easy,

    2 heat sink screws
    unplug fan wire.

    4 gpu - 4 cpu

I also removed the plastic cover on the CPU as old thermal paste gets stuck in there and i wasnt sure what kind of paste they used (conductive or not) cuz there are metal pieces/***** , I am no expert but mechanically advanced somewhat. I can hold a screwdriver unlike some people i know. I picked Noctua cuz it is non-conductive. I heard good reviews about it.

    also the cover screws.

heatsinks slide out of the side, they are actually 2 heatsinks that are seperate that are connected by stickytape. old thermal paste was super hard, dried. I spent about 1 hour just tryin to clean everything. my comp booted up just fine, 1st try

    Current idle temps

    CPU: 38-40 C
    GPU: 49 C

i will post temps tonight or tmrw after i play some crysis 2

here are some more. gimme about couple hours guys then i will give you some crysis 2 #s. also i will run furmark.

so far still actually lower temps than i used to get in the past at idle

    currently CPU: 38 C
    GPU: 49 C

Surfing the web, listening to music through itunes.

keep in mind i also have the cooling mod done too.

    Just ran furmark

Max GPU is 85 C. GPU fan does not come on 100% till the Temp hits 85C so no matter what you have the max temps of this device will be 85C. As soon as the Fan came on temps quickly drop to about 77 C. I would think that this paste is a success.

CPU: was 55 C max but not a good benchmark of it cuz Furmark mostly stresses the GPU.

    crysis 2 - advanced settings

    Max GPU temp 84C

I usually get about 85 C consistently during game play. Crysis2 couldnt breakpast 84 and the fan was not on 100%.

CPU has reached 63C during crysis 2 play which is normal/high. I will monitor CPU temps. Might be a bit high. I used to get about 60s during game play from CPU but i will check my old screen shots.

Just curious if you have any Youtube videos? I removed my lower panel just to see if it helps and it does not so I'm wondering if something else is wrong?

hey bariche i was planning on doing this with my G60jx but I am quite nub with taking apart laptops.

did you have to take apart the front or just the back panel of the laptop?

    Just back panel
    Then - fan screws
I would recommend use non-conductive paste like noctua since ur a nub..

Did you OC? High on Crysis 2 seems out of reach for the G60Jx

Yes oc to 630 core about. 1900 on memory.. Runs stable n stays cool too.. Anything higher than 640 the card is not stable but still does not overheat.. Fan comes on full force at ~83c and fluctuates between 75 n 85c while gaming.. I usually run it at med graphics.. High is probly possible but ot playable.. I turn the shadows down. Med graphics it runs awesome.

Also screen res has alot to do with it too 1366-768 is easier to run than 1080p

Do you think I would be able to sustain that with just a normal Jx, no cooling mod? How much of an FPS increase do you get in games with that?

I feel that cooling mod made a huge difference for me...

Im not that of an guru, we need a pro answer. I feel my oc improves my fps by about 5-10

Clean ur grates if anything... Those tend to clog up

OEMs use non conductive pastes to reduce failure rates in the case of misplacement of any of it.

Especially on older machines the repaste and repadding is always going to help a lot :)
