Okay, so the G60 uses reverse MXM Asus branded cards. I was curious if Another of the same brand, Asus Reverse MXM would fit in my G60?
Say a 3 series or even a 4 or 5 series card?
The 260GTX that it has, Seems to start to struggle to keep up, Even though I have a program that enable full custom controll speeds of the fan on this system called Notebook Fan Control. It's the only program that works to control the fans on this system. It doesnt have an g60 profile for it, but any of the asus selections work. I will give a dropbox link to it if you need it. It may work on other Asus laptops aswell as other brands.
My temps never go above 30c cpu and 60C GPU when gaming.
Back to topic, Yeah. I realllllyyyy want to upgrade it. I HAVE heard that someone put a 300 series card in it from a G60JX system though.
Can anyone clarifty?

The gtx 260m is a better card than the gts 360m.
There are no options sadly
-
I think it's time to get a new laptop.. You can't upgrader it any further...
-
Seems that way sadly :< I mean right now it runs 260GTX, 250GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD, 8GB Ram, and a P8800 That'll go to 2.82 Ghz
Not sure what else to do, The only difference between an 8800 and the 9 series is 3mb of cache, Which isnt much of a reason to buy a 9 series from an 8.
Would Overclocking the GPU maybe help it fare a little better? I don't wanna push it too much though. -
It will help but the system is obsolete bluntly put.. Your'e really better off selling it and upgrading...

Just be aware that the 2xx series of GPUs was known for having a solder issue and that overclocking exacerbated it.
-
And the G60 series are ovens so OCing doesn't help...

Well there is that too! We just got a new generation of parts so now is a pretty good time to get something.

I wou;d have got something long ago... I'm quite happy that I had the G73JH and not one of these pieces of thrash.. Asus really upped their game with the G73 and its sucessors...

That's going a bit far, if the system has been working well for him then that's just fine.

The desgin was thrash.. I remember reading about so many issues with the G50/51/60/70/71/72... Only the 73/53 were the ones that finally were of a high quality...
G60vx gpu swap?
