I've been looking around for a SSD, and I asked some question in another forum.
Here's a link if you're interested. What should I be concerned with when looking for a SSD? - PC Message Board for PC - GameFAQs
But to the main question, does my motherboard have 6GB/s SATA ports for this new SSD I plan on buying? I've looked at quite a few websites like tigerdirect, newegg, and CNET and none of them seem to mention my GB/s
Again I'm using an Asus g60vx laptop
Thanks in advance guys, all help is greatly appreciated!

No. It has sata II. Only the newest sandy bridge systems have 6 gig sata.

Yep, you have SATA II. I'm running a 64 GB SATA II SDD and a 320 GB HDD in my G51 (same motherboard) and it is plenty of space for Windows+programs (I keep documents and games on the spinning drive).

You can still use a SATA III drive connected to a SATA II port... but of course the speed will be limited at SATA II speeds.

Thanks guys I'm glad I got such quick replies. Sorry for the late response
But, I won't be losing too much performance right? SATA II is 3GB/s right? -

Yes SATA II is 3gbps. You'll be saturating your SATA controller with a new intel 510 or newer sandforce like a vertex 3 - you won't get the same performance as from a 6gbps port but it'll still be marginally faster than a previous gen SSD.
G60vx, does it have 6GB/s SATA ports?
