Hi, I recently purchased a G701 VI and performed a clean install of windows 10 to remove bloatware etc. I installed the latest drivers and am running into an issue where my touchpad doesn't register gestures/scrolling after a complete shutdown. I've installed the latest ASUS ATK/Precision touchpad driver package as well as the smart gestures driver, and the touchpad gestures would work during that boot instance. If I restart the laptop, the gestures will still work. However, if I perform a full shutdown and then power on again, gestures don't work.
Odd discovery: If I choose restart after a non-working instance, the gestures start working again but a shutdown will just reset the not working cycle.
Any assistance on how to keep the gesture functionality permanent would be greatly appreciated!

don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
Start by re-installing the drivers. Then check the Windows settings for the trackpad

I have tried most recent:
Asus ATK Package 1.0.0055
Smart Gesture 4.0.18
ASUS Precision Touchpad 11.0.20
And previously the drivers listed on the ASUS support page for GX701VI series, Model G701VI, OS W10 64bit drivers.
I am on Bios version 304 and latest intel INF chipset driver.
I have scrolling/zoom gestures enabled in both windows touchpad settings and in the Asus smart gestures program.Last edited: Sep 19, 2017 -

Hey man! I literally ran into this exact problem with my G701VI XB72K. I was looking around and found a thread that actually had a solution for this! Here is the thread link (the solution's in the comments, so make sure you read the whole thread, it's pretty short): http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-3175079/asus-rog752vs-touchpad-issue.html
But in case you don't want to read all of it, I can list the steps that I did based on the instructions of that comment thread:
1. Uninstall Asus PTP Driver using Windows' 'Add or Remove Program' menu in the Control Panel
2. Download this driver from Asus: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb...1002.zip?_ga=1.225479518.576092303.1483674594
3. Install the downloaded driver
4. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ASUS PTP Driver\win10
5. Double-click "install_all.bat"
This should definitely work. I tested it on my computer by putting it to sleep and waking it up (this is the condition that used to disable my touchpad gestures before this fix), whereupon the touchpad is working perfectly fine with gestures and everything!
Best of luck!dcomnimda and DontWorrys like this. -
Side questions:
Is the raid 0 setting locked? I would like to upgrade the ssd size sometime down the line and after some research in other forums it seems like there may be no way to install non raided drives.
Also, (if you've experienced this with your G701), does your "reset pc" options work at all? the XB78K would just reach 100% while setting up for reset and then reboot into safe mode with none of the available options (except shutdown) working. I was forced to perform clean usb installs of win10 to "reset". I had to manually load the intel raid drivers since the toshiba ssd's could not be detected by default. -
It looks like the windows 10 anniversary update/fall creators update breaks the touch pad drivers. The fix did not work for me unfortunately. I've decided to return the G701.

Hey man, if you ever want to try again with another Asus ROG laptop, you could always try this fix that I eventually moved on to use (the previous fix was undone when I accidentally changed some settings on ROG Gaming Center.

Be warned, the admin of Asus ROG forums says that it contains malware. The solution does work, however, and no detectable problems so far. Your call, man! I've been thoroughly enjoying using my G701VI now that that's outta the way. -
I just have to say thank you! For a while I thought my touch pad had a dead zone in the middle. Recently the touch pad got extremely sensitive. I have tried different drivers and they did not work. I tried the one you posted and followed your instructions and now its working perfectly!
Just posting in case someone has a similar issue where the touchpad has a dead zone for the G701VI
( I figured I was going to have to take apart and reconnect the connection or order a new touch-pad )
G701 VI : Touchpad gestures (multi-finger scroll etc) stop working after shutdown
