Hello all, before I return my Asus laptop for a different brand. I wanted to know if anyone had cracked the missing piece for getting windows 7 to boot. I feel as though I have tried everything from inserting drivers to my windows iso, installing an OS to an external drive, and setting up a PXE server to attempt to get windows 7 to work.

I've managed to get as far as a windows loading screen, however that's as far as I have gotten. In safe mode, it hangs on disk.sys. I replaced the disk.sys file with a current working windows 7 computer using NVME drives, however that didn't seem to work either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

So after many days/hours of trying to get this to work I have admitted defeat. As I stated before I was able to get Windows 7 to install, however it would get stuck on disk.sys. I slipstreamed the USB3.0 drivers, along with NVME drivers, and chipset drivers into my Windows 7 ISO, none of which let me boot into the Windows. I know it's possible, I just don't have the knowledge to do so.

I also wasn't able to get Ubuntu 16.04 or 17.10 to recognize the nvme drives to attempt a Linux install. I will be returning the laptop to stock windows 10 and sending it back. I will use a different brand to get what I need/want. Hopefully someone will be able to crack this one so other people can choose to do what they want with their hardware.
