I have an Asus G71 and yesterday it crashed in the morning. After rebooting I noticed it wasn't detecting the battery charger (it's always plugged-in). So now it's out of battery. I know the laptop itself still works, but it isn't charging. I've tried multiple sockets around the house to make sure it wasn't the problem. I've also tried it with the battery in and the battery out. One time I was able to make it work without the battery, but stupid ole me decided to put the battery in to see if it would still work. Nope.

I have tried plugging in the adapter/charger separately to a wall socket, and the light pops up to indicate it has power. Green, of course. Then when I plug it into the computer the light goes away and I still can't turn on the computer. I called Asus tech support and they told me to try it without the battery, and then concluded it was the adapter and I needed a new one. Well I wanted to try asking before committing to a $70+ new adapter.

I don't feel the crash event and the charger not working are related, but I felt the need to include it anyway.

Looking for some insight as to whether or not it's reasonable to conclude the adapter is the issue. Not sure what to do from here other than order an adapter.
