My g71 has developed a weird problem and from what ive heard over the web is that these machines are prone to have LCD failures. When the screen problem developed my first diagnostic procedure was to pull the hard-drive out and put it in a different machine to see if the hard-drive was still in working order, which it was. Long story short I purchased a WUXGA 2 bulb replacement. After pulling my LCD screen cover off I noticed that the replacement screen I purchased has a few different connections then the OEM LCD I removed. The replacement screen has two identical connectors with different color wires in them(white/pink & black/blue) at the bottom of the LCD near the inverter. The OEM LCD has one connector(pink/white wires). The connectors I am referring to are located around the inverter so im assuming they are for the back lights. My question is do I need a different inverter to run this duel bulb screen or is it not even compatible or maybe jump the connectors? The new replacement screen also has a small locking connector near the larger locking connector that my laptop doesn't have an apposing cable provided. this screen fits in my g71gx just like the OEM screen only these two differences. Will this screen work on my machine or did I waste 130$???

    Thanks

Unfortunately inside computers (especially notebooks) no one seems to follow international wiring conventions, so long as you are sure the panel should be compatible then plug them in.

The inverter my laptop comes with only has one socket for which in the picture is already plugged in and wont accommodate the second identical connector the new LCD came with which is also in the picture. Are these for the duel backlights? I think I read on this very forum that people have upgraded their LCD like Im trying to do from a single backlight to a duel maybe someone can chime in.

Where did you purchase your screen?
My G711Gx-A1 WUXGA is dead as well.

I"m fairly sure my screen is a 2-bulb unit as I can sometimes see a couple of blue-tinted areas on the screen about 1/3 the way up from the bottom of the screen, but am not sure how to really determine whether it is a 1-bulb or 2-bulb unit.

You can have two bulbs with a single cable too, you need to get one of the same type as the voltage levels make doing your own wiring a bad idea.

As in the link, it's a single bulb with one connector, the bulb does run the whole length of the screen so can cause the same brightness increase on either side.
