I've had mine for a year or so now and overall I have enjoyed the large screen and its ability to play most any game that you can throw at it.
Of course I have been plagued with the annoying frame rate issues that seem to only pop up only every now and then if I make sure to reboot before a heavy gaming session. I just chalk this up to owning something high performance, like a Ferrari or something. Its a , but its high maintenance.
I couldn't handle the damn fan noise any more though! So tonight I took off the largest panel on the underside of the laptop which gives you access to the fan, CPU and GPU heatsinks and the interconnecting heat pipes. I then removed the plastic cover on the fan and blew it out with compressed air. I also Pulled the blade assembly off the magnets and blew it out. I also put the tiniest drop of all purpose oil on the shaft and put it all back together.
Twenty minutes after doing this I am typing to you without the sound of a mini jet coming out the back of my computer. Now I'm not saying that the oil will not eventually damage something or that the loud fan noise will not return in another 20 minutes. For now though I have peace.
I did notice that the GPU heatsink was aluminum. Now from previous experience building desktops I have had much better luck with copper heatsinks. Although I would assume that unless you can mill out your own heatsink these are probably not a standard form and you can't just buy them off of newegg. But it does look like if you found a fan that was thin enough you could cram it in between the GPU sink and the case. Or I guess a pad cooler would work too, but I think that is dumb because if I wanted to go to that much trouble of cooling my computer I would have just bought a desktop.... damnit
