my model has the 2.53 core duo, don't know what motherboard is internally.

    1) what motherboard is internally?

    2) what is a safe voltage level for these laptop processors and laptop motherboards(i'm mostly a desktop person), also what speeds would be easily obtainable, as well as what is the medium voltage level risk factor and medium clock speed risk factor.

    3) bios doesn't seem to overclock friendly so, what 3rd party software is typically used and isn't faulty or generate errors? setfsb? any others' out there

    4) average gpu voltage levels and average gpu clocks, as well as medium risk factor gpu voltage levels and clocks.

    5) i assume rivatuner should be no problem to use to overclock the card

    6) ram timings overclocking software, and what are typical average and medium risk factor timing settings that can be achieved.

    7) any known bios flashes have been tested that increased performance? mobo/gpu, i'm guessing no

    8) anyway to disable speed throttle, i know it would throttle under heat loads and if not is there anyway to adjust the temperature point at which it throttles, same goes for the gpu

i guess that's it for now, any input or additional info in regards to overclocking the laptop that should be noted besides the obvious, feel free to include, look forward to the responses

    1) I believe it's by ASUS with PM43 chipset.
    3) There is ASUS Turbogear which allows overclocks up to 15 % depending on the processor. It can be set via BIOS. Setfsb is also possible if you know the PLL. Look in the G71Gx owner forum.
    5) There are the NVIDIA Tools. You can also adjust the GTX260M clocks via NIBITOR and flash the VBIOS. There is information on this forum how to do this.
    8) By reducing/changing the voltages of the GTX260M you can reduce/avoid throttling. Check with Furmark if throttling happens because of temperatures. This has to be done via NIBITOR and VBIOS flash.
There is a thread at NBR how to do this.
    I've done this all with a G71Gx.

the bios only allows for the set of higher multiplier thats about it, not very helpful, so i guess i'll go for setfsb. so there seems no way to avoid speed throttle on temps.

biggest question is, is there a cmos reset or does asus have a double bios incase boot fails,(technically all you can do is adjust multiplier so you wont need to reset the cmos, but say you can't post at a higher clock, do you have to unscrew laptop and reset cmos

also i want to instal a ssd this week, is there a guide or some place that shows where to install the drive into, looked around haven't found much, inregards to this model
