I saw a topic on here about how a user preferred the G71GX and I'm thinking of getting it for my wife for Christmas for WoW primarily. I was just wondering though, with nearly identical specs, what prompted Asus to launch the G71X and is there any performance difference between the two? Would I be hindering her by going with the G71X?

I was also thinking of getting a G60VX-RBBX05 for 654.99....But with the G71GX being 20 dollars more, I figured it'd be worth the extra memory and faster CPU.

    I appreciate any response!

The G72 has a 1600x900 screen versus the 1440x900 screen on the G71. The G72 has a backlit keyboard. The G71 does not. If you ever wish to upgrade the wireless card, the G71 has three wires (two are only used as it's configired from factory) if I remember correctly, whereas the G72 has only two wires.

Other than the above mentioned, that's really the only difference between the two. Performance wise, they should be identical. They both have the same CPU and GPU. Same amount of system memory too.
