Today i saw this on boot up
    0xc00000e9
tried to boot from the recovery discs
F9 at asus screen didnt work
    tied escape at Asus screen
    choose DVD boot
    started to load windows
error message No Hard drive detected.
So looks like its time to upgrade to a 7200

    MY Question:
will the 3 DVD recovery discs I made when I first received the computer work to do a fresh win7 64 bit install...I didnt receive a OEM copy..
Is there a list of drivers at ASUS support I'll need before this too?
    Thanks

Yes, your recovery disks will return your machine to the factory-sealed state.

Win7 will recognize 95% of the hardware immediately after installation. For the remining ones you will have to goto ASUS support - download drivers to get the compatible ones with your laptop.

Well I still need help please.
I installed the new HD, and ran the 3 dvd backup discs that I made when I received this laptop. Im new too this I didnt do anything to the Harddrive before running the 3 DVD back up/ Do I need to format the HD (please No Facepalms here).lol

It ran all 3 ok, the last one finished and reported a successful partion install.

It turned off ...when i clicled finish, so i rebooted the machine,, It went past the Asus RoG screen THEN promply went Black..powered off,

so I rebooted pressing F2 i can see bios..
exited bios...saw a message at bottom of laptop screen and a fill bar..
"Windows is loading files",,Then I start to see the Windows Logo

    But machine powers off!!!

That sounds a bit complicated. I would recommend the following in order:

1- Format the drive with NTFS. No quick format. Just be patient and wait for an hour or so. This will go through all the bits on the drive.

2- Retry installing from your backup DVDs.

3- If (2) fails, try a clean install from a Win7 DVD. Not sure where you will acquire one if you don't have any. You may borrow from your friends etc.

4- If (3) fails too, this looks like a motherboard failure rather than a HDD failure and there is not much you can do for it at home. Send it to an ASUS repair facility.

    Well Ok..
Might be awhile before this is sorted out..
    Thanks Very Much
Another thing i noticed, I removed the bottom cover and watched the fan.. It does not spin at all when the power button is pressed.

Check the date and time settings for your computer. A date that is too out of sync with the current one will cause windows update not to function properly, i found that out the hard way.
