So I visit this site a lot, but a first time poster. I have a g73jh, and as you may have guessed, you guys have been amazingly helpful, would be computerless withoutcha. Need more help though. My girlfriend has a G72GX and I cant seem to find her problem on the forum. I might just not be seeing it, but Ive looked in both the 72 and 71 area on the "read this" post.

Anyways, the problem is pretty straight forward, and the title pretty much covers it. While she is playing, any game that takes just a bit of effort on the computers side (WoW primarily for her, but Ive tested it with a dozen games) the computer will run perfectly for 5-10 minutes 50-60 FPS ish on max, then the fans will kick on full blast, sounding like a aircraft, and then the FPS drops to 1-5 FPS for about 30 seconds. Once the fans die, the FPS jumps back up.

Ive read multiple threads that had very similar problems, Ive updated the video drivers multiple times, using a driver cleaner a few times, rolled back a few times, etc. Ive also updated the bios, which many people say is the fix, but no luck. The computer is located in a relatively cool area, on a flat surface, and has a laptop cooler under it on full blast all the time.

Anyways, would appreciate any help. I have a feeling that its something really simple, a setting somewhere I need to turn on or off, but Im not really familiar with her computer. Ill be checking on this thread often. Thanks ahead of time.

Edit: She says its when the battery/charger fan turns off. Since I dont use the computer, shes probably right.

Overheating issue, you should repaste and it will be ok
And a laptop cooler with this temps, i imagine without it oO you must give it to a professional to repaste the gpu with a good thermal paste IC Diamond for exemple i think it will fix this

Yeah 102 is a bit high, I'd say it's close enough to where throttling is going to be a problem.

When it gets to throttling the clocks hit the floor so that the GPU can cool off.

You should make sure the fan/vent area isn't clogged with dust, as the first step. If it is, take off the bottom cover of the case and blow some compressed air into the fan and vent, holding the fan fins in place with your finger or a pencil etc. Also make sure the fan isn't making any bad noises like grinding or ticking after it's been cleaned.

If you still have high temps after that, it's time to consider applying new thermal paste as RikudouSenin has already mentioned.
