The only thing I've done to this laptop, besides use it of course, is bought a replacement powercord

Any ideas why its doing this?

Also, a window keeps popping up to update my "Windows BIOS Flash Utility." Worth doing? Is there a specific version I should look for?

You are probably running the Software Auto Updater. You can kill that if you like as many report issues with it, and do your updates manually.

Run "msconfig" and disable asus auto update on startup. Or uninstall it from the control panel.

Try setting the power mode to "high performance". Screen flickering CAN be caused by the GPU increasing / decreasing the clock speed.

It can also be caused by a tonne of other things... but that's the first thing that comes to mind, and easy to try out.

There isn't a "high performance" setting. There is an Asus Overclocking Mode. When I put it on that, the flickering goes away.

Then the flickering probably has something to do with your GPU changing speeds.

Could be a number of things. What have you tried to do, to diagnose it? What does it look like? Can you take a picture /video of it and include it in this message? How are your temperatures? Have you found others with similar problems? Does it happen at specific times, or only in specific circumstances? When you say randomly turning white, is it truly random, or only when gaming?

The screen flickers like its slowly losing power, then it goes white. As in all you see is a white screen. Pic later.

How do I find out temperatures?

No, but I don't know anyone who has the same laptop. Thats why I posted this here.

Random as in random. Playing games, opening up a web browser, going in to Word, ect.

Hit 'Fn' and 'F6' key at the same time to increase your screen brightness, this cures the flickering on mine...not sure what to tell you about the white screen because I've never had that show up but I do have a faulty screen that I'm about to change out, I will let you know if that cured the screen flicker while not on full brightness.

You can also try changing your GPU clock speeds, Asus has downclocked the 260M from factory and if you search overclock.net for this review you will find the clock speeds recommended by Nvidia and info on how to change them on your machine.

    Hope this helps :)

P.S.~ Does your screen flicker while your are active or when your laptop is idling?

This thread is a bit old eh? But the screen flickering has two potential fixes listed here: reset the BIOS to user defaults, and/or reseat the display connectors.
