    Hello,

I have not been on here for a while since my laptops have been running well. But I was on the phone with a rep from asus about a fan issue so asked him some questions about upgrading the g72gx. What he told me was a bit shocking. He said if I purchased the video card form say the g73jw the gtx460m, or even the gtx560m from the new g74 they fit into the same pci-e slot and all I would have to figure out is heatsinking it..... any thoughts anyone?

Second I asked about replacing the q9000 with the q9200. The q9200 should be plug and play I was informed since I had the quad chip already.

The only question they would not answer for me was if I was able to use ddr3 memory and if it would be any improvement over the ddr2 1066. So im looking for some ideas there. With setfsb PLL ICS9LPRS929AKLF I now overclock, but the error I get when it becomes unstable is not the cpu but the memory..... This is why I want to upgrade it to a memory able to handle faster speeds perhaps I can achieve better overclocking. This memory issue I could use some help on.

Soooo... here are my plans; the gtx560 I cant get my hands on but I have found a nice gtx460m for sale with its heatsink and fan from a g73jw, second someone trashed a nice laptop (left it on the car roof while driving, dont ask how >.<) with the q9200 I got the laptop cheap sooooooo

Some good thermal paste and the processor is a 10-15 min job.... now the video.... this is where it gets tricky I must be able to cool the gtx 460m and the heatsink setups on the 2 cards are no way the same... I will have some pics as soon as the new card arives and I get a good look at it. If not ill resell it for about double what I got it for. Wish me luck ill let u all know how it goes.

    Thank You
    Tom

Ok so about the memory. If I use the 1333 memory will there be any improvement? my main issue is that with setfsb when I overclock my instability comes from the memory overclocking and not being stable while the cpu is still rock solid. If I use 1333 memory will it clock to whatever the fsb is? While I overclock will that give me more stability?

    Thank You
    Tom

Honestly I would no pour anymore money into that laptop. Instead I'd take the money you were thinking about dumping into for upgrades and save it for a new laptop. You might be able to get $400-500ish for the laptop, but I am guessing here. If you're on a budget these I found these 2 laptops that seem like a decent price for the hardware.
