I just walked into my living room this morning where my G73 is connected to my HDTV and noticed the screen was a mess of garbled colors and text. I think I've ruled out the official "PSOD" as my symptoms were differerent (garbled screen was also on HDTV)

I have a suspicion it may have had something to do with the Power4Gear settings. After reading a lot of posts on here with others who have ran into issues I have to wonder if its even worth it. I'm not even sure what this Power4Gear actually does!? It seems like a glorified Windows power scheme utility.

What are the downsides to uninstalling this?

You lose the ability to enable/disable Twin Turbo on the fly.

Totally agree with Hakira, I got rid of it just after removing Trend AV. I got sick of wallpaper changes to white. You are right, it is a gimicked up window Power scam utility!
