G73 - Windows 7 reinstall (I lost everything!), what are the necessary drivers/downloads?

So I installed Ubuntu 10.10 beta and the installer wiped out EVERYTHING (Games, iTunes, Pictures, AGH!!!!) even though the installer claimed it would only resize and not delete Windows.

I decided to not use the backup disks that I made from the beginning because I didn't feel like sorting through bloat ware again and used a retail disk instead.

What are the necessary drivers and downloads that I need? Windows 7 didn't install any display driver (and I don't think it installed any other drivers for some reason) so I already have the Ati Catalyst 10.8 installed but thats it. I don't know which stuff I should download from the Asus website.

Today has been extremely frustrating, thanks for any and all help.

EDIT: Windows downloaded some of the basic drivers like the ethernet, wifi, card reader, and I decided to download the touchpad driver from Asus because it wasn't working properly and the realtek driver because I know I need that. I know I still need some other stuff but I'm not sure what. Thanks again.

Ok here are some things that I think I may need from the Asus download page. I need some confirmation however.

    1. Under ATK > ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities
    2. Under Chipset > Intel INF Update Driver
    3. Camera > No idea
    4. BIOS > No idea, I still have 204 but I heard 209 will make my laptop quieter (and 211 will do the opposite).

Go to Chatity post, check the links of his/her signature and in one of the you will find the iso/image of the ASUS DRIVERS DVD that came with the G73. Mount the DVD and let the install do its jobs (it choose for you all the essential). Also you can choose what bloatware you desire to install.

Go to where? I thought Chatity may have been a user so I searched for them and nothing came up.

Also, guessing by your signature 209 is better than 211?

    Thanks

EDIT: I searched for Chastity and found it. But I still have the 209 question.

That seems very unusual -- I've never had that happen.

Chastity (note the "s" in there) has a link in her sig to the driver DVD that ASUS shipped with some of the G73's but not others -- not sure why only some of them get one. As I understand it, all of the drivers there are useful.

Also, be sure to update your BIOS and vBIOS, and then get current Catalyst drivers from AMD, they recently shipped a vBIOS that makes those work, and they're more stable and faster than the ones it was shipped with.
