Just got my new G74S-XC1, and I'd like a carrying option that's NOT the big Targus backpack I keep hearing about. I don't need/want a ton of extra space for books, hoodies...college kid stuff

Something more like a 'normal', business laptop carrying; big enough for the computer (in a padded section), the AC adaptor, a few files & that's it. About the size of the laptop, but 4.5" thick or so.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Eh???? What you specify you need is the ROG backpack that is probably the one made by Targus... you are saying you dont want.

The G73 only just fits in and is padded. Can you not get the G74 in it? Its not bigger but thicker than the G73 as far as i can gather so it should fit. The charger goes just in front of it and there is just one more separate compartment at the front for files, mouse accessories etc. Whats not to like about it cos you cant get anything smaller or aesthetic in my opinion.

    Lately I've been using this:
Wenger SwissGear GA-7501-06F00 SHERPA Slimcase Computer Sleeve - Fits Notebook PCs up to 17.3 at TigerDirect.com

It's very small and light. Almost no room for other stuff. I actually carry all my accessories including the power brick in another bag. It's a very tight fit for the laptop and power brick. But with laptop by itself it feels surprisingly light.

Also the padding isn't very thick and I wish it had more. Despite all that it fits my needs and it's cheap too.

I thought the Targus backpacks were all like this one

That has way too much storage, but I now see there are some that are a bit thinner.

Which one is the one that came w/some of the Asus G models? I'd actually prefer it NOT to shout out to potential weasels what brand/model of laptop lays inside, but that's not a deal breaker.

    Thanks!
