My display had some backlight bleed, so i decided to take a look inside to see if there was anyway to fix it...

Here's what i did and it has reduced it greatly

I opened up the display completely and took it out, then flipped it over put some electrical tape( black coloured, 1cm wide) on a strip of paper and placed the strips off paper with the tape facing the screen(such that you're seeng the paper side) over all the edges of the screen.

the side rims have some sort of plastic brackets and i slid the paper underneath them.

the bottom has a chip(presumably inverter) covered by a plastic sheet, removed the plastic sheet and slid some paper underneath the board (the plastic sheet is pasted with some pretty strong adhesive so be careful and slow while removing it)

the top had no place to tuck the paper underneath so i pasted a strip off it to a metal rim on the top. Warning: if you attempt to do this leave the lower end of the paper free(only for the top border) coz when i taped the lower end to the screen the bleeding effect somehow got amplified

I'm sorry i didnt take pics of the procedure coz honestly i didnt think it would be this effective, but here are before and after pics..

Hey, so dumb question, but if you had this thing totally apart-I guess that means you can verify that it really is LED backlit right, not florescent?

I think my monitor's not good enough to tell too much between your too pictures, but it does look better!

LED backlight`s dont have inverters, so he must have an cct backlight, unless he was mistaken.

Huh. Thanks! Well, I'm doing a different notebook I guess. Oh well, nice specs though. (Don't know what's up with the percolate warning for that matter...)

well its definitelt led backlit, i dont know what the chip on the back is, i presumed it was a inverter...
it had the lvds cable feeding into it and the cable for the led sheet coming out
